Authentication

Authentication

There are a number of ways to authenticate with the API

  1. Account tokens
  2. Device tokens
  3. User login
  4. Fax Tokens

Account and device tokens provide limited access to the API. User logins provide full access (with the exception of fax functionality). Fax Tokens are used to send and check status of faxes.

Account Tokens

Account level tokens are used to authenticate API requests for all incoming and outgoing calls across your account, regardless of which user or phone made the call. Account tokens are generated within the Caller IP web application. The token should be appended to each request as the token field for api calls listed under Incoming Calls and Outgoing Calls.

Account tokens can be made by:

  1. Log into admin.rinble.com
  2. On the left menu, click API Access
  3. Create a new token.

Device Tokens

Device tokens are associated with each phone and are used to access information specific to the phone and the user assigned to the phone. They can be used for the device specific API functions such as click-to-call.

Device tokens can be made by:

  1. Log into admin.rinble.com
  2. On the left menu, select Users
  3. Choose the user.
  4. Choose Phones on the top menu.
  5. Select the user's phone.
  6. Choose API on the top menu.
  7. Create a new token.

User Login

Login with your usual Rinble user login to gain access to the entire API.

Fax Tokens

Fax tokens are associated with a fax line. A fax line can have more than one token. They can be used for the API functions under Fax API. To create a fax token, log into www.faxhound.com, click Settings, and then API.

To create a fax token:

  1. Login to www.faxhound.com
  2. Choose Settings on top right.
